USAR Task Force Kit

The USAR (Urban Search & Rescue) Taskforce Kit is a Hardline two-way voice communication system designed to meet specific rescue needs. These include, Confined Space, High Angle, Structural Collapse, Victim Location, Shoring, Tunneling and Trench Rescue. The Kit can be configured according to the type of rescue involved, so whether it's a two-in-two-out or a five-person Search & Rescue team the USAR Task Force Kit has you covered.

In a rescue situation where instant communication between team members is critical, remember that communication can be locked out by any radio on the system being keyed accidentally and also that radio conversations can be monitored by outside sources (for example the press).

Confined Space Rescue can involve up to five Responders. The USAR Task Force Kit can provide continuous voice communication between two Rescuers, two Standbys and one Attendant with each Entrant able to travel a distance of up to 1,500 ft. The Power Talk Box provides a source of untethered (no headsets or microphones) voice communication for Entrants.

In a High Angle Rescue, the Power Talk Box can be lowered down to the victim or with the Rescuer allowing for completely hands-free, untethered two-way voice communication with an Attendant. This allows the victim, even in a state of immobility, to communicate an assessment of their current situation to the Attendant on the other end of the Hardline cable.

Victim Location and Structural Collapse Rescue are made easier with the help of the Rescue Probe. This unique device contains a sensitive microphone that can pick up sounds from within Collapsed Structures or spaces below ground. The Probe can be pushed into rubble piles or through a bore hole to locate victims who then have a means of two-way voice communication with Rescuers above.

Shoring & Tunneling are procedures that often follow suit in a Structural Collapse. From here the Power Talk Box and Power Talk Box Controller provide an excellent system of hands-free, untethered two-way voice communication. It is a basic system of one-box-in and one-box-out. Each box delivers and receives voice communication to and from both ends at a maximum distance of 3,000 feet. In addition, the Foot Pedal PTT option can be applied for added convenience to the Attendant.

A Trench Rescue follows the same principles of Shoring & Tunneling and thus utilizes the same equipment from the USAR Taskforce Kit. A secondary approach can also be taken by replacing the Power Talk Box Controller with a CSI-1100 Mini-Module and the Behind-the-Head Headset. This method is best used in a high-noise environment for distances up to 1,500 feet.
