The SEARCHCAM Recon II is designed for Urban Search and Rescue Squads. The Recon II strikes a balance between the sophisticated SEARCHCAM 2000 Victim Location system, which is designed primarily for search operations in major structural collapse incidents, and the SEARCHCAM Mongoose, which is designed to aid in victim extrication. The Recon II provides rescue squads with a general purpose camera system that is tailored to the task typically assigned to the rescue squad. The Recon II enables rescue squads to perform limited visual search through multiple debris layers, as well as victim observation after the Search Team has moved on to other locations. The Recon II is small enough to be easily maneuverable in the rubble, yet will extend long enough to be effective for multi-floor search operations. Effective viewing distance is as close as a few inches to over 10 feet (3 m) in total darkness. Operational ease is further enhanced by the detachable display. With the display attached, the probe is easy to operate with one hand. In confined areas the display can be quickly removed for increased mobility. The Recon II is compatible with all SEARCHCAM 2000 accessories and batteries, which guarantees compatibility and interoperability with hundreds of rescue teams worldwide.
